3 Steps to Get Spiritual Insight & Strategy

One reason why I love living in North Carolina is that we get to experience all four seasons (sometimes in one day 😂).

I love the changing of seasons.

Last week, we packed away our pool bags and swapped them out for backpacks.

And as we began making the shift and preparing for back to school, fall activities I did what I always do—ask God for spiritual insight and strategy.

Here is what I do:

1. I begin by thanking God for the season we are completing. I reminisce of the moments shared, I grieve the hardships, and I take inventory of patterns or things that I can be better prepared for the next time that season comes around.

2. Then I begin thinking about the new season and ask God to begin preparing me. It’s not a one-time sit down moment, but a collection of many moments over the course of a few days. Whether I’m journaling, driving in the car, or reading before bed, it’s what I’m leaning in and seeking direction for.

3. I ask God these three questions:

* In this season, what are my current daily and weekly rhythms that I should I keep, adjust or let go of?

* What needs to be a top priority for me when it comes to me personally, my marriage, my kids, my sphere of influence?

* What habit do I need to incorporate in my life that is going to prepare me for what’s ahead?

4. I write it all down and share it with BJ. It’s been a moment that has helped us move in the same direction, grow together and support each other in what we believe God is showing us.

God doesn’t always give us the play-by-play or show us exactly what is ahead.  But, He promises that he will never leave us nor forsake us.

God wants to lead you and walk with you in the next season. He wants to prepare you, equip you and assure you that wherever he is calling you to, next—He’s already there.

So, today I encourage you, especially if you’re feeling underprepared, overwhelmed and pulled in many directions—to ask God for spiritual insight and strategy. Use my steps as a guide.
