If I had to choose two words that I dislike the most, two of my top five would definitely be, patience and endurance. Anytime someone encourages me to “be patient” it’s almost like a trigger word that only makes me to act more impatient. Or, when I workout and my coach informs us that it’s going to be an, “endurance day,” and it’s like the word sucks the enthusiasm right out of me. So, I’m pretty impressed that after reading the title of today’s blog, you still decided to take a read!
Tucked away in one of my favorite books of the Bible, we find a scripture that encourages you and I to develop/possess “patient endurance.” This is what it says:
“Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.”
Hebrews 10:36
I know you desire to do the will of God and that you want to be on the receiving end of ALL that He has promised you! I also know, that it can be hard, tiring and discouraging to to endure, and then throw in that patient word, sigh! I’m with you, friend! I am not here to convice you that it is easy, but to remind you that it is worth it.
Going back to the dreaded “endurance days” I mentioned earlier– although these days don’t usually bring me the most excitement, they bring me the most growth! To see the results and to achieve the goals we want to accomplish we need to stick with it, to keep going– to not give up or give in.
A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to speak a message about “patient endurance.” You can check it out here! I hope it encourages you.
