Which weight will you choose to carry?

Updated: Apr 23, 2020

I was just thinking about you and praying for you. I know you carry a lot—as a mom, a wife, as a business owner, or a student. You keep your house running smoothly, your to-do list checked off and ensure all the things are done each day.

I see you girl, I see you. And more than that—God sees you!

He sees the extra snuggles you give your kids, the sacrifices you make when no one is watching and most of all, He sees your heart & desire to be the best person you can be.

Isn’t that incredible?! The God of the heavens and the earth sees you, knows you and takes delight in you.

Carrying all that we carry can wear us down and beat us up sometimes, can’t it?

I had a pretty hard day yesterday and I just felt like I was carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders.

After a lot of tears and moments of feeling so weighted down, this scripture came to my mind front and center.

Come to me,all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

I realized I had a choice to make—was I going to carry the weight of this situation or was I going to make the choice to take on God’s weight?

The difference?  His weight is easy and His burden is light.

If I am going to carry something—why would I choose my heavy, uneasy yoke when I don’t have to?

We not only need rest for our bodies, but we need rest for our souls. A soulcation if you will—And that comes by drawing near to Him.

So, that’s what I’m going to do—I’m going on a soulcation from the things that distract me from drawing near.

Becuase my souls needs rest.

Because I get tempted to trade His yoke for my own.

What about you friend?

Are you feeling worn out? Are you feeling restless? Do you feel like the weight is on your shoulders?

Choose right here, right now to lay down your burden—then you will find rest for your soul.
